Billy Murle Metcalf, age 92 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County on December 27, 1929, to the late Fletcher D. and Mittie Elizabeth (Durham) Metcalf. Billy served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. Before his retirement, he was a self-employed roofer and a licensed and ordained minister in the Apostolic church. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool in his younger years. More recently, he could be found watching old westerns in his spare time. He will be remembered for his loving, kind nature and was loved by all that knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Metcalf; daughters, Sandy Metcalf and Margaret Metcalf; and all nine of his siblings. Billy is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Metcalf of Winchester; sons, Jimmy (Sheila) Metcalf of Tullahoma, Adam (Stephanie) Metcalf of Kingsport, and Gordon Metcalf of Decherd; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
