Mrs. Joann Smith passed away peacefully at home, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s on November 01, 2022. She was born on January 10, 1936, in Decherd, TN to the late Homer and Lucille Trussell. Joann graduated from Franklin County High School, where she played basketball, was captain of the cheerleaders and Homecoming Queen. She attended Tennessee Tech University and then moved to Nashville to work in business and live the city life. She even danced on the Grand Ole Opry.

Joann married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Smith in 1958. They were married for 60 years until his passing in 2018. They moved to Florida in 1960 to pursue a career in coaching and raise a family. She excelled as a homemaker and was a wonderful wife and mother. She later took up a career with the Santa Rosa School District and retired after working for 25 years. She was a sweet lady, who never missed one of her sons’ ballgames. Joann liked to cook, work in the yard, and enjoyed trips to the beach.

Funeral services will be 2 pm, Monday, November 07, 2022, from the chapel of Rose Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until service time.

She is survived by her sons, Ricky and Scott Smith both of Pensacola Beach, FL.
