Brother Billy R. Murphy, 81 of Double Springs passed away on February 22, 2013 in Tuscaloosa surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 15, 1931 in Dyarsburg, TN. He served his country in the United States Army and went on to pastor for 52 years in Big Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 6-9pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs where services will be held on Sunday at 2pm. Brother Keith Prince and Brother Johnny Hood will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.
He is survived by his sons, Danny (Patricia) Murphy and Randy Murphy; daughters, Charlotte (Billy) Wint, Linda (Mark) Rogers and Anita (Thomas) Shubert; brother, Carl (Mary) Murphy; sister, June; a host of nieces and nephews; and he was Paw Paw to 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Murphy; parents, Ocie and Johnnie Murphy; brother, Coy Murphy and a sister, Katherine Guidon.
