Arlon “Arlie” Junior Waldrop age 89 of Lynn, entered into rest on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Northwest Medical Center.
He was born on May 13, 1923. Mr. Waldrop was a 4 year WWII United States Navy veteran. He severed two deployments and was awarded a Purple Heart. He loved and honored his country. Arlie was wounded on a mine sweeper when his ship was attacked and blown up. He was known as a kind man to everyone. Arlie married a wonderful wife Marie Waldrop whom he had four children with. After Marie passed away he married Earnestine to share his life. He enjoyed hunting and loved to work in his garden.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 6-9pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 2pm. Joe Spiller will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashbank Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Nauvoo.
Mr. Waldrop is survived by his daughters: Carolyn Annette Lindley and her husband Myron, Barbara Lockhart Crabtree and her husband Robert. Daughter in law Brenda Waldrop. He was Paw Paw to 10 grandchildren: Ronny, Danny and Rodney Lindley, Sara Pitts, Sherae Hokett, Tim and Stacy Waldrop, Felicia Waldrop Hood, Miranda Elkins and Jerry Martin. Great Grandchildren: Dusty, Josh, Casey and Clifford Lindley, Jessica Edwards, Shala Colburn, Shane Parkhurst, Kalem Lockhart, Tiffany Pitts, Hunter and Chase Hokett, Logan and Lane Elkins, Gracie and Kaleb Martin, Stacha, Emily and Briley Waldrop, Kayla Hood Stockman. Great great grandchildren: Serenity and Carmen Pitts, David Ray and Skylar Lindley, Jimmy Ray Tucker, Breanna Stockman, Destiny Stockman, and Abigail Stockman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Annie Mae Marie Waldrop, wife Earnestine Waldrop. Son Jerry Wayne Waldrop, daughter Teresa Diane Waldrop Tittle. Parents William and Martha Waldrop and a host of brothers and sisters.
