Funeral Services for Mr. Dewey Armon Dock Walker, age 88 of Lineville, will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Billy East and Bro. Raymond Long officiating. Burial with Military and Masonic honors will follow at the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Walker was born in Randolph County but lived most of his life in Clay. He began his long career as a mechanic at Robertson’s Garage, then for several years at the Anniston Army Depot. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard, serving with the 1208 Quarter Masters unit in Lineville and retired as 1st sergeant after 36 years of service including time overseas in the Persian Gulf War. Mr. Walker a long time member of the Lineville Masonic Lodge 219 F&AM. Dock as most people knew him; enjoyed his time working at the Clay County Exchange, Farming and Gardening and socializing with his family and Friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Arleen (Walker) McCain of Lineville; a son, Randy Walker of Ashland; 3 grandchildren, Shane Smith (Helen) of Ashland, Brian Duke (Kristi) of Ashland, and Peggy Smith of Cragford; 11 great-grandchildren, Alex Smith, Blake Smith, Jacob Walker, Cloey Berry, Maddy Alewine, Caleb Duke, Junior Duke, Bryson Duke, Kinsley Brown, Breilyn Duke, and Angel Smith; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Bryson Champion, Ryder Champion, Hansleigh Champion, Carter Duke and Maddox Alewine; 3 sisters, Bonnie Harris (LC) of Delta, Nonnie Carroll (Gene) of Cragford, and Jo Whitman (Roger) of Lineville, plus many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Mr. Walker is preceded in death by his wife, Collen Walker, his parents, John Dewey Hobson Walker and Fannie Cummings Walker, 5 brothers, Woodroe Walker, Ray Cummings, Hilt Walker, Sonny Walker, and Donnie Walker, and one sister, Kathryn Rowden.
Active Pallbearers will be Blake Smith, Jacob Walker, Brian Duke, Caleb Duke, Brandon Acuff and Billy Carr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Junior Duke, Bryson Duke, Bryson Champion, Ryder Champion, Shane Smith and Maddox Champion.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 5:30-8:00 P.M. and until service on Monday at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
