Hazel Ann Milam Penney, 89, resident of Olive Branch, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Thursday morning, October 20, 2022 at her niece’s home in Ripley.

Per her request, there will be no service-just wonderful memories.

Mrs. Penney was born July 17, 1933 in Sledge, MS, the daughter of the late Carlton Adrewn and Georgia Rozetta Watson Milam. She was a graduate of Sledge Public High School and was a telephone supervisor with Pacific-Bell for over 30 years before her retirement on November 30, 1983.

A Christian, Mrs. Penney, enjoyed reading, watching college football with her favorite team, Ole Miss Rebels and play cards, especially, “international rummy” and “skip-bo”. She was a member of the Golden Branches in Olive Branch where she made many lasting friendships. Water aerobics at the local YMCA was a favorite pastime.

Blessed with a loving family, memories will continue to be shared by two granddaughters, Andrea Johnson (Jeff) of Blue Mountain and Jamie Hunter of Senatobia, a brother, Henry “Mike” Milam (Vernell) of Jewett, TX, her much adored great grandchildren, Aubrey Johnson, Jey Johnson, Tracie Annestedt, Ayden Johnson, Ian Hogg and Connor Hogg and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband  James “Jim”  Penney, her daughter, Della Jean Hunter, three sisters, Velma Givens, Jean Bradley and Jo Edie, two brothers, James Milam and George Milam.

The Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories.
