With My Last Breath, Thank You

Her last words to the world

She taught us gratitude and grace

Gave hugs with a warm loving embrace

There was always a smile upon her face

The way she lived her life

Was the very best

Greetings with kisses on each cheek

Talking and preaching to your ears

For years

I held your hand so gently

As your breaths became shallow.

Each time anticipating that each would be the last

To watch you rise and fall.

Without pride and without remorse

I gave into the eventuality

Of the long second sleep that awaits us all.

As flashes all around, not being seen by the others.

I knew that was only meant for us to see.

You went to take your place amongst them.

No more pain, no more sadness.

Leaving me to finish the work.

You see it behind my eyes now.

Everyone I have ever loved

and received their love in return.

Believing I will see them again.

To know that my path will be my oath.

In my darkness did you only fill me with light

and overturn my cup of hatred into love.

I have watched my world’s burn around me.

And finally burn within me.

Did I come to make peace that I was given life.

So I will fight death until I can fight it no more.

I miss you, You are missing from me.

Without you though, I would never be.

Let us reflect her greatness

Keep all the sweet memories

Close inside our heart

There she lives on within us

And we will never be apart…

-Black Widow (Gina Carrillo)
