Andrew Dale Vanschoiack Andrew Vanschoiack passed away on Wednesday October 12th, 2022, at Hospice Family Care. He is predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dale Vanschoiack of Sheffield; sister Renee Vanschoiack Roberts of Athens; and nephew Avery McCracken of Memphis.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Claire McCracken Vanschoiack; one daughter Amanda Hargrove (Scott) of Athens; one son Josh Vanschoiack (Christy) of Athens; 4 grandchildren Beasley Hargrove, Sloan Hargrove, Grayson Vanschoiack, and Emma Claire Vanschoiack; two nephews Jason McCracken (Paige) of Birmingham and Will McCracken (Lauren) of Fort Collins; one niece Krista McCracken of Memphis; 1 great niece Josephine McCracken of Birmingham and 2 great nephews Finn McCracken of Fort Collins and Hayden McCracken of Memphis.

Andrew was born in Sheffield, Alabama, in 1956. He graduated from Athens High School in 1974. He retired from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department in 2020 after serving 16 years as a corrections sergeant and courthouse security officer. He worshiped at The First United Methodist Church in Athens. He loved to cook, collect anything and everything, have “man days” with his grandsons and the hunt for the perfect Christmas tree. He loved being a papa more than anything. Andrew will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Funeral services for Andrew will be Sunday, October 16th, 2022, at 3:00pm at the First United Methodist Church, with Kenny Baskins officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00-3:00pm at the church. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed McCracken, Jim McCracken, Jason McCracken, Chuck Moore, Will McCracken, Billy Hargrove, Mike Blakely, and Jay Whitehead.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Athens Family Resource Center and Hospice of Limestone County.
