Richard Michael Rose, age 73 of Estill Springs, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born in Fayetteville on May 12, 1949, to the late Sumner O. and Mildred (McClure) Rose. He graduated from MTSU with a degree in business and was employed at AEDC until his retirement. He followed all their activities and ball teams through their school years, coaching some teams but attending every game possible. Mike has proudly watched his grandchildren grow through the years and you’d see the biggest smile on his face as he watched these children. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed water-skiing and had hiked many miles on the Appalachian Trail as an Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and bowling, as well as traveling to Sanibel Island, Ireland, New Orleans, and many road trips and cruises with special friends. Mike was a member of Winchester First United Methodist Church and was a Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Rose; brother, Jackie T. Rose; and sister-in-law, Carol Rose. Mike is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Janis (Lumpkins) Rose; children, Troy Michael Rose, and Ashley Renee (J.B.) Hill; grandchildren, Lilli, Brooklyn, Brayden Rose, and Lydia Grace Rose; daughter-in-law, Erica Rose; brother, Billy F. (Brenda) Rose; nieces and nephews, Linda (Bob) Williams, and Chris (Wanda) Rose; many other family members and dear friends; and beloved sidekick, Sully. Visitation will be from 1:30-3:30 pm Friday, October 14, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:30 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Joe Rutherford officiating.
