Funeral service for Bro. Charles Edward Hammons, age 75, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Parks City Baptist Church, with Bro. Don Russell and Sunny Bright officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Charlie was born on April 13, 1947, in Crossville, TN, to the late Luther Carmon “L.C.” Hammons and Arvelene Nail Hammons, who survives. He left this world on October 1, 2022, and now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was the owner of Edwards and Hammons Air Conditioning and Heating where he worked side by side with his son, Kevin.
Mr. Hammons was ordained as a minister at Parks City Baptist Church on August 19, 2001 and was the pastor of Oakley Baptist Church for many years. Charlie attended Parks City Baptist Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and his greatest joy was to see others come to Christ.
After retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies, but especially loved woodworking. He enjoyed making wood bowls, cutting boards and even made a dining table for he and his wife’s anniversary.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 57 years, Judy Monks Hammons; children, Keith (Liz) Hammons, Kevin (Wendy) Hammons, and Cortney (Mark) Hoffman; grandchildren, Emma (Kensey) Morar, Baylee (Jake) Taylor, Glenn (Kristin) Hammons, Jim (Lillie) Hammons, Ellie (Cole) Williams, Maycee Hammons, Tucker Hoffman, Bentleigh Hoffman, and Samantha (Blake) Bates; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Taylor, Caroline Morar, William Morar, Shane Hammons, and 1 great-granddaughter due soon; sister, Donna (Joel) Ledbetter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Charlie was preceded in death by his grandson, Hayden Hammons; sister, Helen Hammons Beddingfield; father-in-law, Thomas Monks and mother-in-law, Glendon Monks.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hayden C. Hammons, Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 241 Fayetteville, TN 37334.
