Larry Wayne Hill, age 74 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on July 15, 1948, to the late John and Amie Lou Hill. Larry served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Franklin Farmers Co-op in Decherd for forty years. Larry was a volunteer fireman with the Winchester Fire Department for forty-two years. He also volunteered with the Franklin County High School Rebel Marching Pride Band for twenty-six years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 44 in Winchester and last attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Huntland. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing, hunting, camping, cutting wood, and working in the garden. Larry also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his beloved family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lella Mae Hammonds, Bobbie Jo (Hill) Williams, and James “Eddie” Hill. Larry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Patti (Sisk) Hill; daughters, Kristy (Jamie) Smith of Cowan, and Julie (Chris) King of Belvidere; siblings, Thomas “Bud” Hill of Belvidere, Billy (Kathy) Hill of Pelham, and Dolly Jackson of Belvidere; sister-in-law, Patricia Hill Smith; brother-in-law, Howard “Shorty” Hammonds; grandson, Aaron Goff; great-granddaughter, Rose Goff; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris King, Bro. David McGee, and Bro. Ray Gardner officiating. Larry will be transported to Franklin Memorial Gardens for interment on the 1929 fire engine driven by members of the Winchester Fire Department. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Winchester and Decherd Fire Department, Gary Greeson, Eddie Scharer, Terry Derryberry, Robin Hood, Tony Reed, and Zack Langford and military honors will be bestowed by the United States Army.
