Murriel Moseley Hamilton – Obituary

Murriel Moseley Hamilton, born October 17, 1936 in Decatur, died Sunday, February 24, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Corrine Moseley of Decatur.

Murriel was a graduate of Decatur Negro High School and attended Alabama A&M University. She worked many years with the State of Michigan. After retiring from the State of Michigan, Murriel returned to Decatur where she was a devout, loyal member of King’s Memorial United Methodist Church.

Murriel is survived by her five children, Derrick, Gary and Todd Hamilton of Decatur, Mark Hamilton of Southfield, Mich., and Cecelia Hamilton of Chicago, Ill.; grandson, Marcus Hamilton of Southfield, Mich.; brother, Robert Moseley of Decatur; sisters, Jane Moseley Nocho of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lucinda Moseley Russell of Atlanta, Ga.; cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Another grandson, Mario Hamilton of Atlanta, Ga., preceded her death. Murriel was admired and loved by many and will be missed.

A memorial service will be held later this week for immediate family, at Murriel’s request. The family will host an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Murriel’s home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association (donate.americanheart.org/) or American Diabetes Association (donations. diabetes.org/), in memory of Murriel.
