Mildred Hazelwood, age 95 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Elk River Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Franklin County, she was born on November 12, 1926, to the late Ollie and Gertrude (Robinson) Edwards. Before her retirement, she was employed at Winchester Hat Company as well as at her niece’s daycare, Mrs. Paula’s Daycare, where she loved the children she took care of. When she was able, she enjoyed cooking and gardening, but most of all Mildred cherished the time spent with her beloved family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stokes Hazelwood; daughter, Evangeline Hazelwood; grandson, Mickie Phipps; and siblings, Dorothy Jean Berryhill, Nina Hill, Carlie Edwards, Velma Shockley, and Thomas Edwards Jr. Mildred is survived by her loving granddaughter, Carmila Escalon of Murfreesboro; great-grandchildren, Matthew Phipps, and Millie Jean Phipps; brother, Ralph (Jane) Edwards of Cowan; and sister, Rethia Curtis of Tullahoma. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 12 noon in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
