Police Chief Greg Ray and Captain Scott Wallace give media details in Sheffield murder.

SHEFFIELD – Chief Greg Ray, in a news conference this afternoon at the Sheffield Police Department, wanted to make it clear that Friday night’s ‘home-invasion’ murder of 27 year old Dorian Cliff Hamilton wasn’t random.  He made it clear that the event was the act of persons who wanted to score drugs in the house at 219 Sterling Avenue. There are 2 or 3 suspects in the case.

219 Sterling Ave hamilton murder

When officers arrived at the house, they found Hamilton with a single gunshot wound. Most likely a 9 millimeter round, he was hit in the right arm – the bullet traveling to his chest cavity. “He was transported to Helen Keller Hospital by ambulance where he later died from his wounds,” Ray continued, “His body has been sent to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for an autopsy examination. We hope to have the preliminary results of that autopsy at any time.” Ray indicated that Hamilton lived in Huntsville primarily, but also had a local address.

Ray is asking the public to help with the investigation. Anyone who has any information on the circumstances of this murder are asked to contact the Sheffield Police Department at 256 383-1771, or CrimeStoppers 256 386-8685.
