WASHINGTON — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) released the following statement on the eve of the next great leap in American space exploration, Artemis 1, on the back of the Space Launch System.
“America is embarking on another great chapter in our storied history of leadership in space. As we prepare for the launch of Artemis 1, literally the twin sister of Apollo, I’m reminded of what it must have been like more than 50 years ago as we took our first steps toward the moon. But this time, not only are we shooting for the moon, but eventually also Mars.
“I am proud to have supported and helped create the Artemis Program and the Space Launch System in Congress. I’ve taken great pride and interest in visiting with the men and women at NASA as this dream has become reality. Just like Apollo, I’m sure there will be bumps along the way. But achieving big, bold ideas like this is one of the many things that truly make our country great. We cannot allow countries like China to surpass us.
“I send my best wishes to all of those who are working to make this launch a success. They are all working on our behalf, for every citizen of this country. Godspeed Artemis 1!”
