Mary Carolyn Smith, age 81 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022 at St. Thomas Mid-Town in Nashville. She was born in Sherwood on August 11, 1941 to the late Arthur and Sally (Hannah) Birdwell. Mary was a devoted member of the Broadview Baptist Church. She retired from Lanier Clothes where she worked for over 25 years in the shipping department. After her retirement she went to work at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems-Winchester in the medical records department. Mary loved to cook and have Sunday dinner at her house. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a classy, loving, and energetic woman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Smith; and sisters, Betty Birdwell and Dorothy Birdwell. She is survived by her children, Cindy (Mike) Moore and Robert Smith; grandchildren, Justin (Lorie) Moore and Jenna Moore; great grandchildren, Chloe Grace Moore and Klaudia Jackson; brother, William Birdwell and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 1pm-3pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 3pm in the chapel of Moore-Cortner with Bro.
