Nelda Codean Meigs, 76 of Sardis Community, entered into rest on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Codean was born on March 31, 1946 in Summit, Alabama to Cody and Mattie Gossett. She was a member of Sardis #2 Baptist Church for many years and had been a member of the Eastern Star for 30 years. She loved her family and she loved how it grew. Her church and neighbors were family too.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sardis
#2 Baptist Church where services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 11:00 am. Brother Mackey Watts and brother William McClellan will officiate.
Codean is survived by her husband of 59 years, Glen Meigs; children, Teresa Meigs (Toy), Mike (Karen) Meigs, Nelda (Jon) Williams, Ken (Lisa) Meigs, and Mattie Lynn (Greg) Hudson; 13 grandchildren, Kayla, Cody, Melissa, Yolanda, Forrest, Presley, Brooke, Amber, Danielle, Levi, Caleb, Joshlyn, and David; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirlene Whisenant; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cody and Mattie Gossett; brother, Jr. Gossett; and great-grandson, Asher Jenson.
