Jacob Taylor Cohen, age 32, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on August 4, 2022. He was born March 15, 1990, in Huntsville, Alabama
Jacob graduated from Huntsville High School, class of 2008, and attended Wallace State College where he earned a Culinary Arts degree.
Jacob shared his passion and creativity for fine food with those he loved. He had a rich connection with music and traveled the world exploring new communities and enjoying the band that he loved so much. He was a staple in the Widespread Panic Band family. Jacob never met a stranger; his kind and generous personality lent him to making new friends wherever he went.
His life was forever changed when he rescued Lilly Bell, his loveable, loyal companion who also loved traveling and was always by his side. Through Jacobs’s bond with Lilly, he became an advocate and philanthropist for animal rescues across the country. He started Lillie’s Pittie Committee, a group of likeminded animal lovers who could gather and share their passion for animal well-being.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Eric and Jennifer Cohen, Andrew and Paula Lecher, and Kellie Turchetta; siblings, Gavin Cohen Ridgeway (Cagan), Alec Cohen, and Erica Grace Moody; nieces, Blakely, Avery, and Maisey Ridgeway; great-grandmother, Vera Nell Johnson; grandparents, Gary Turchetta and James and Rita Lecher; and aunts and uncles, Lisa Lapidus, Colleen Hale, Gary S. Turchetta (Reneé), Tracie Johnston (Mike), Elizabeth O’Halloran (Chris), Theresa and Pat Hart, Peter and Maryann Lecher. Visitation will be Saturday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Willowbrook Baptist Church. The memorial service will immediately follow at the church with Mark Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to A New Leash on Life (Jacob’s favorite charity), or to your favorite local animal rescue.
