Charlotte D. (Harris) Armstrong was born October 23, 1933, in DeKalb County, Alabama. She passed away Sunday morning, July 17, 2022. She attended school in Marshall County, Alabama. During her lifetime, she resided in many states throughout the nation, including Alaska, Nebraksa, and Kansas, as well as the Pacific Island of Okinawa.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ollie C. Armstrong; four children, Michael (Jane), Kenneth (Mary Beth), Donald (Linda), and Sherri (Frankie); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; as well as her siblings, Charles Harris, Pat McCrory, and Clara Goode.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Jannie Harris, brother, Olen Harris, Sisters, Lovie Gray, Alcerie Milburger, Sue Brown, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Armstrong.
Charlotte worked at various times as a printer, a cake decorator, and the favorite waitress at King’s Drugstore in Birmingham. During the Civil Rights era, she was proud to serve at the Montgomery County Court House registering voters.
Her granddaughter said, “The world was a brighter place because of her love, humor, and her world-famous spaghetti!” Her youngest niece said, “She watched me as a child and my children when they were small. She even taught me how to throw and catch a ball. Her impact on all those she came in contact with will never be forgotten!” Her nephew described her as the lady who never stopped giving of herself and being amazing. We will cherish our time together.
She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Memory Hill Cemetery in Albertville, Alabama.
