James Elliott “Jimmy” Denton, Sr., son of the late Eugene and Olivia Garrett Denton was born August 11, 1943 in Bolivar TN. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bolivar.
He lived all his life in Bolivar, TN attending Central High School where he played basketball. He attended Memphis State University for two years and worked at Denton cleaners during his school years. Worked at Nelms Chevrolet as a salesman, he was also a lineman at Bolivar Energy Authority, manager at Hardeman County Country Club, lineman for Irby Electric in Jackson. He returned to BEA as a lineman, once again, and was in the engineering department when he retired. Upon retirement, he began to mow yards and then continued to help his son in his landscaping business.
Jim’s hobbies included deer and duck hunting, riding horses and motorcycles, and fishing. He loved riding in the field trials. In his last few years of the field trials, he traded to riding in a pickup instead of a horse. He began riding motorcycles in his 50’s and enjoyed going on day trips and several long trips to other states with his friends and son. He loved Harley Motorcycles and had several with his last one being a Harley trike. Most of all, he enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Susanne McKisson Denton; daughters, Dena Renee Denton and Darian Eugenea Denton (Daniel) Leath; son, James Elliott “Jed” (Holly Sisco and daughter Emma Thurmond) Denton; Jera Elayne Fawcett, Christopher Shayne (Shannon Hendrix) Fawcett, Robin Carter Fawcett; two sisters, Barbara (Norman) Vance and Sandy (Mike) Malone; three sister-in-laws, Sandra (Burton) Waller, Barbara (Phillip) Landreth and Tricky (Donny) Korn; three granddaughters, Kirsten Siler (Adren) Crawford, Aydan Blayne Leath and Madyn Alayne Leath; seven Fawcett grandsons, Thomas, Maxwell, Blake (Laura), Ian (AnneAshley), Klyne (Brittny), Seth (Taylor), and MItch (Robyn); seventeen Fawcett greatgrandchildren, Alex, Nolan, Cal, Lola, Ollie, Finley, Cannon, Cason, Linley, Channing, Ledger, Everett, Hudson, Henry, Hattie, Hazel and Everly.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, Eugene and Olivia Garrett Denton; maternal grandparents, John and Alma Garrett; paternal grandparents Harry and Beulah Long Denton; and sons, Aaron Blaine Fawcett & Jeffery Wayne Fawcett.
