Mr. Eugene Eduard Schuchardt Jenkins, age 63 of Wadley, passed away on June 21, 2022 at his home. No services are planned at this time.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Leipheim, Germany, but lived the majority of his life in East Smithfield, Pennsylvania, among other locations, before settling down in Clay County for the last 15 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sargent. He was also a college instructor in his early days. Mr. Jenkins was known to rescue animals, and was loving of the broken and forgotten. He was an avid recycler, and loved to rescue turtles. Mr. Jenkins had a lot of worldly experience. He was able to see so many aspects of the world around him and incorporate that wisdom into his lovely conversations. He loved talking to his children about the world issues and ideologies and the vast amount of knowledge that he contributed to every one of his conversations was loved and appreciated. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Clay County Volunteer Fire Department and he often volunteered at the Soup Kitchens as well.
He is survived by his children: Aimee McFarlin (Kelly) of Athens and Vincent Eugene Jenkins (Christina) of San Antonio, TX; his 5 grandchildren: Ava, Lucy-Anne, Ryker, Vivienne, and Angelia; one sister, Elizabeth Colegrove (William) of Horseheads, NY; plus other extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Marilyn Austin Jenkins; and his biological mother, Cristina Schuchardt.
