Jonell Farris, age 88 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems-Winchester surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Winchester on September 10, 1933 to the late Chauncey and Aline Money Cowan. Jonell was a member of the Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked for the Franklin County School System as a Substitute Teacher until her retirement in 2003. Jonell enjoyed crossword puzzles, taking care of her flower gardens, and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her four-legged best friends and enjoyed Gatlinburg. Jonell will be remembered as a wonderful cook, and as a dependable, hardworking, and caring woman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Farris; sister, Norma Sloan; brother, Tom Cowan; and sons-in-law, Mark Fleishman and Randy Bain. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Paul) Ensminger, Melanie Bain (Dave Fite), Lori Fleishman, Gretchen (Ritchie) Carroll; grandchildren, Rebecca (John) McCombs, Ad’Lynn (Michael) Martinez, Clark (Heather) Ensminger, Christian Carroll, and William Carroll; great-grandchildren, Allison, Emma, Jane, Jack, Bella, Joshua, Benjamin, Zachary, Charlotte, Grace, Max, and Fisher; sister, Sandra Syler; brother, Bill (Sharon) Cowan; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral home. Funeral services will be immediately following at 1:00pm in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
