John Henry McBee, age 70 of Cowan, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Sherwood on June 3, 1952, to the late William Edward and Bertha (Hill) McBee. Before his retirement, he had been employed for many years at Tellis Garner Sawmill. He was a former volunteer fireman with Crow Creek Valley. He enjoyed fishing, especially for catfish, and dirt track racing at Winchester Speedway. But most of all, John cherished the time spent with his beloved family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Leona Pendergrass, Julie McBee, James McBee, and Reynolds McBee. John is survived by his loving children, Jeff Pendergrass, Renea (Chris) Sweeton, and Shasta McBee; grandchildren, Noah (Leah) Sweeton, Isacc Sweeton, Alexis Pendergrass, Tristen Pendergrass, Payton Green, Colton Pendergrass, and Chloe Pendergrass; girlfriend of seventeen years, Barbara Wilson; siblings, Robert McBee, Linda (Wayne) Prince, and Brenda (David) Garner; several nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Bella. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Mt.View Cemetery.
