Mr. Charles Lynn Martin, age 85, of Arab passed away on June 25th at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice of Marshall County. Mr. Martin was born March 8, 1937, in Marshall County to Minnie Nearen Martin and Millard Martin. He was married to the late Peggy King Martin for 49 years.
Mr. Martin worked for Hayes Aircraft for a short time and then worked as an electrician and plumber for many years. At the age of 37 he had major surgery to remove an abscess from his brain, which ultimately caused him to become paralyzed on his right side. He worked hard to learn how to walk again and never stopped living. He loved visiting others and was known to make many visits to people who were ill at home or in the hospital. He never allowed the paralysis to slow him down. Anyone who knew him, knew his greatest joy on Earth was his only grandchild, Martin Dyar. Mr. Martin was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Martin Butler (Scott); grandson, Martin Dyar; and three nephews, Randall Cooley, Barry Martin and Steve Martin. He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy King Martin; parents, Minnie Nearen Martin and Millard Martin; brothers, Wayne Martin and James Martin; sister, Anna-Laura Cooley.
Services will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with visitation from 11-1, immediately followed by the memorial service. Interment will follow at Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Andy Brown and Bro. Jimmy Flynn will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Barry Martin, Steve Spencer, Ted Monroe, Nicky James, Eric Graves, and Buddy Sweat. Honorary pallbearers are Darryl Sweat, Gene Carr and Joe Cantrell.
