Maxine Keeton Grubbs, age 79, of Birmingham passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Mrs. Grubbs came to Christ in Birmingham many years ago while she was employed with South Central Bell. After salvation, she moved to Chattanooga and attended Tennessee Temple University where she met Reverend Bobby Grubbs. She retired from Decatur Heritage Schools as a teacher after 21 years of faithful service. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of Glen Iris Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Bobby Grubbs; parents, Ben and Alice Keeton; brothers, Loyd Keeton and Dick Keeton; and sister, Jean Moore.
Survivors include her sons, Jonathan Grubbs (Jeannie), Joel Grubbs (Kimberly) and Jamin Grubbs (Melaney); grandchildren, Garrett Grubbs, Sydney Grubbs, Collin Grubbs, Kathryn Grubbs, Taylor Grubbs and Tori Grubbs; brothers, Lawton Keeton and Ted Keeton; sisters, Jewel Potter and Ruby Lunn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be today, February 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Gardendale Baptist Tabernacle. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gary Peters, Rev. Chris Lamb, Rev. Jamin Grubbs and Rev. Joel Grubbs will be officiating. Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 1 p.m. central time at Stokely’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Newport, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glen Iris Baptist Church Gospel of John Project in her memory.
