Dr. William (Bill) Hopkins Leonard, age 84, passed away in his home in Huntsville on June 2, 2022. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Rainey Leonard, daughter Cindy Miller, grandchildren Charles Leonard (Len) Causey and Charelle Hudgins and husband Josh, great-grandchildren: Abbie, Charlotte, Ruby, Justin and Willa, three brothers, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born in Newbern, TN. Bill graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Doctorate in Industrial and Systems Engineering. He served in the US Army Signal Corps for three years and completed his military training at Fort Monmouth, NJ.
After retiring from the US Army Missile Command, Bill joined the UAH Research Institute. He was a member of numerous professional organizations and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Monday, June 6th from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. Mitchell Williams. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
