JamesMr. Edward Lee Ford, 66, of Leighton, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. Visitation will be Friday, 6-8 p.m., at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.

The funeral service for Mr. Ford will be noon Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. James Misisonary Baptist Church, Leighton, Ala. The Rev. Green Davidson III is officiating. Burial will be in Mt. New Home Cemetery, Leighton, Ala. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.

Edward Lee Ford was born Aug. 17, 1946, and departed this life on Feb. 12, 2013, at Shoals Hospital. He was the fifth of 13 children born to the late Jimmy W. and Martha A. Ford. He accepted Christ as Saviour as a young boy and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church where he remained until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruthie Ford Robinson; grandparents, Robert and Patsy Ford and Charlie and Mary Gunn.

Ed was employed by the Colbert County School system until his health began to fail him.

He is survived by a daughter, Damenica Cox, Corinth, Miss.; five brothers, Charles Ford, Tuscumbia, Billy (Doris) Ford, Muscle Shoals, Wayne (Larita) Ford, Decatur, Vengard Ford, Decatur, and Davie Ford, Leighton; six sisters, Willie (Tracy) Hogan, Leighton, Cecelia Neloms, Leighton, Edna (Percy) Bowens, Killen, Mollie (Brenton) Mitchell, Killen, Sharon and Carolyn Ford, San Jose, Calif.; one aunt, Lucy Ford, Decatur; two grandchildren, Tetiya and Amani Cox, Corinth, Miss.; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
