Betty Jean Downey, age 80 of Lynn, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
She was born on March 3, 1942 in Winston County, Alabama.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Concord Baptist Church in Natural Bridge, where the service will be held at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in adjoining Cemetery. Brother Shawn Blanton will officiate.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (James) Spain, and Cheryl Dennis; son, Joey Downey; grandsons, Matthew Spain, and Marcus (Sarah) Spain; 4 great grandchildren; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Junior and Brenda Matthews; sister, Agnes Dodd; and brother, James (Betty) Haley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Downey; son, Karl David Downey; daughter, Connie Meeks; 2 sons-in-law, Don Meeks, and Jerry Dennis; parents, Claude and Bethel Haley; sisters, Mary Catherine Haley, and Annie Ruth Haley; and brothers, J.P. Haley, and Jerry Wayne Haley.
