Susan Elizabeth Dodd Burch, 73 of Toney, Passed away Thursday, April 22, 2022 at Regency Retirement Village of Huntsville.
Mrs. Burch was an Eastern Star and past Mother Advisor for The International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a member of the Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society ( past President) and a former teacher at Fayetteville Technical Institute in North Carolina where she taught Cobal and Fortran. Her hobbies were numerous to include: basketry, jewelry wire wrapping, lapidary, sewing, gardening, crochet, stone carving and etching. She was always open to adventure whether it be Cubmobile racing with her grandsons, going to the range for target practice or skydiving at age 62 with her daughters.
Mrs. Burch is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Burch (SFC retired), father John C. Dodd (CW4 retired), and mother Mildred Higgins Dodd. She is survived by three daughters, Karen Burch, Dianna O’Dell (David), and Leslie Picht (Mo), two sons, Jeff Rutledge (Sabrina) and Cliff Gaston (1ST Retired) (Starr); one sister, Virginia Marek (Mark); one brother Charles Dodd (Cindy); her best friend and sister-in-law Pat Clark (Tyrone Nye); brother-in-laws, Steve Burch, Tom Burch, and David Burch (Brenda); six grandchildren, Jessica, Katherine, Emily, Michael, David, and Evan; seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ceed, Cody, Luna, Mah’Kayla, Maddison, Jaidyn and a muber of other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Berryhill Funeral Home, April 26, 2022 from 11:00am until noon, followed by a memorial service at noon.
Family Suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society.
