Jerry Morgan Moore, of Huntsville, died peacefully at his home on April 12, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born on October 23, 1932 in Gadsden, AL. After attending Snead State Community College, enlisting in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and attending Auburn University, he moved back to Gadsden. He then met his wife, Sandra, on a blind date and married her in 1958. Jerry was blessed with a large and caring family having six kids and five grandkids. The grandkids were the apple of his eye.
Jerry enjoyed his profession as an independent life insurance salesman. In his younger adult days, he was involved with the Chapman Elementary PTA as well as a coach and board member at Oak Park. Some of his happiest memories involved watching his children perform sports and extracurricular activities. In his older days he enjoyed watching his grandkids at recitals, ballgames, taking them shopping for gifts or just having them around for holidays or weekends. He also enjoyed the company of his wonderful dog, Maddy. He was a huge Auburn University sports fan and enjoyed watching Auburn on TV or better yet, in person.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve, his father, Orsbon and his mother, Cecile. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra; his children, Kim Moore Bordelon (Kenny), Jay Moore (Tamara), Joe Moore, Julie MacMurray (Kory) and Jason Moore; and his five grandchildren, Samantha, Bond, Max, Graham and Sydney. The Moore family would like to recognize Juline Osborne for invaluable service in the care of Jerry. She was truly a blessing to the Moore family.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will immediately follow in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Jerry’s name at www.stjude.org.
