Albertville Man Charged With Murder In Marshall County Shooting

ALBERTVILLE-The Albertville Police Department issued a statement on the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with murder after a shooting on Highpoint Road on Thursday, April 7:

“HIGHPOINT ROAD SHOOTING
At 4:40pm yesterday afternoon, April 7 Dispatch received a call about a shooting at a residence located at 3939 Highpoint Road. This residence is in the police jurisdiction of Albertville, approximately ½ mile west of the Albertville City Limits. The Albertville Police and Fire Departments arrived to find a 30-year-old male, Brandon Charles Bennett of Horton, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Albertville Fire & Rescue transported the victim to Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz where he was pronounced dead.
Patrol Officers and Investigators quickly developed a suspect after speaking with multiple witnesses. At approximately 8:30pm last night, Officers located the suspect in the parking lot of an Albertville Business where he was taken into custody. That suspect’s name is Michael Wayne Childress, 24 years old of Albertville. The suspect is currently in custody at the Albertville Police Department charged with murder. At this time, there are no other suspects to the crime. Investigators are currently working to determine a motive for the shooting.
The Albertville Police Department would like to thank the following agencies who assisted with investigation and helped make a quick apprehension of the suspect possible: Members of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County District Attorney’s Office, Marshall County Drug Task Force, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, and Officers with the Arab, Boaz, Douglas and Guntersville Police Departments.
