COLBERT COUNTY-The Colbert County Tourism has released a calendar of event s for the rest of April and into may.  Check out what’s happening:

March 19-April 30, 2022 – Darshan: Visions of India, featuring art exhibitions, an outdoor festival,   performances, discussions, and workshops at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia and the Ritz Theatre in Sheffield. Full schedule/ Info: www.tennesseevalleyarts.org

March 19-April 30, 2022 – Moments of Radiance, TVMA, 511 N Water St, Tuscumbia. Chitrasutra, a 5th or 6th-century Sanskrit text about art, says “Art is not for worldly pleasure; it is to take one on the path of spiritual experience, to Divinity.” This tenet will be on full display in Moments of Radiance, an upcoming exhibition by India-born artist Amita Bhakta, who says that her time creating art in her studio is “a profound experience for me.” Gallery talk: Thursday, April 14, 6pm. April 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30, 2022 – Historic Sheffield Saturday Walking Tours, Downtown Sheffield/ City Hall, 600 N. Montgomery Ave. Step into spring with our guided walking tours of Sheffield! Guided tours include the history of the people and homes of North Montgomery Avenue and the proprietors of the downtown commercial district from historian Jimmy Austin. Tours will begin at 10am outside the Municipal Building/City Hall. Tours are free to the public and sponsored by Historic Sheffield Commission & Colbert County Tourism.

April 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30, 2022 – Historic Tuscumbia Saturday Walking Tours, Downtown Tuscumbia/ The Palace 100 S Main St. Free guided tours will focus on the history of Tuscumbia and its people.

April 8, 15, & 23, 2022 – Books. Camera. Action, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Join us at the historic Ritz Theatre in Sheffield, Alabama to enjoy some of your favorite film adaptations of classic novels. April 9 & 10, 2022 – Gloria and the Fifth, Norton Auditorium, UNA Campus, Florence. Guest conductor

Dr. Ian Loeppky and combined UNA/Guest Choirs perform John Rutter’s Gloria with the Shoals    Symphony Orchestra. The piece described by many as exalted, devotional, and jubilant will be   preceded by a powerful performance of Beethoven’s timeless, classic: Symphony No. 5, Op. 67.

April 16, 2022 – Remembering a Legend: A Tribute to Roger Hawkins, Shoals Theatre, 123 N Seminary St, Florence. Concert, featuring Muscle Shoals legends on stage, sharing stories and admiration of the late Roger Hawkins. Special guests include drummers and musicians from across the country. April 21, 2022 – Muscle Shoals Music: Songwriters in the Round, Champy’s, 120 E 2nd St, Muscle Shoals. Colbert County Tourism will sponsor a monthly music event each third Thursday of 2022. Local songwriter and Wishbone Studio owner Billy Lawson will host and emcee the show each month.  Come hear the music and stories from the original artists. May 7, 2022 – Recall LaGrange, LaGrange College Site Park, 1461LaGrange College Rd, Leighton. 34th annual Recall LaGrange will be 10am-4pm. FREE event will feature vendors, arts & crafts demonstrations, wagon rides to historic cemetery, tours of log cabins, musical entertainment. Living history event of a Prohibition Era raid of a still will be at 2pm. Nearby Dawson Distillery will be open for tours 9am-6pm. May 14, 2022 – Belle Mont Celtic Fest, Belle Mont, 1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia. The day will include chamber music and discussions of Celtic music held at intervals indoors at the mansion, with performances on the outdoor stage by well-know Celtic music headliners Ed Miller, the Piper Jones Band, and Chambless & Muse. Food vendors and demonstrators will be on site to round out a full day of the music of Scotland and Ireland. Seating will be on the lawn. Bring blankets and chairs.
