William “Rabon” Scruggs, 71, of Haleyville, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2022. He was born in Haleyville, Alabama on July 30, 1950, graduated from Phillips High School in 1970 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked hard all of his life and eventually retired from iron work. There was not much he could not do as he would often laugh and say “jack of all trades – master of none”. He loved to hunt, fish, and watch old western movies. He enjoyed cooking and getting his family and friends together to eat and sing. He and his wife, Linda of 31 years, were also foster parents to several children over the years.
He is survived by his children Jamie Scruggs (Tansi Kidwell), John Scruggs (Joan Thompson), Kathy (Tim) Rowland, Karen (Bubba) Gravitt, Sharon Smith and Jacob (Heather) Shelton; grandchildren, Cody Scruggs, Kristin (Drake) Spann, Walker Scruggs, Hunter Scruggs, Allyson Rowland, Haley Rowland, Kaylin (Blade) Brasher, Brody Gravitt, Meagan Smith, Emily Jo Smith, Kyleigh Shelton and Landon Shelton; great grandchildren Caroline Scruggs, Jax Spann and Remi Jo Brasher; sisters Annette (Jim) Casteel, Violet (late Jerry) Mitchell, Wanda (Frank) Hawkins, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Jo Scruggs, son Daniel Lee Scruggs, Mother Mary Ellen Scruggs, Father Leamon Scruggs, Sisters Fay Hood and Ginger Kelley.
Visitation with the family will be Friday April 8, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home – Haleyville, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Ricky Thrasher will officiate the service.
