Luke Robert Matthews, 64, of Fairhope passed away March 8, 2022. He was born in Huntsville to the late Ben and Barbara Lowe Matthews. He spent his early life in Huntsville before moving with his family to Nashville, TN, in 1968. There he attended The Ensworth School and graduated from The McCallie School in Chattanooga. Luke received his B.S. and MBA degrees from The University of Alabama where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He had a varied career that included banking, marketing, real estate and construction.

He is survived by his brother, Ben Matthews (Suzanne) of Huntsville, and his sisters, Lowell M. Adams (Kenneth) of Birmingham and Lucy M. Garrett (Sam) of Dallas, TX. Also surviving are his seven nieces and nephews: Matthew Adams (Rebecca), Andrew Adams (Catherine), Marcy Regan (Robin), Houston Matthews (Lacey), Nate Matthews (Rachel), Sarah Cagle (Sean), and Molly Turner (Casey).

Luke loved the Lord, his country, and his family. He was devoted to his nieces, nephews and their children who all adored him. He loved living on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay and sharing bayside adventures with his family.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Huntsville’s Maple Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 2 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Lincoln Village Ministries, 1110 Meridian Street NW, Huntsville, Alabama 35801, or to a charity of choice.
