Mr. Hercy Wayne Holmes Sr. Mr. Hercy Wayne Holmes, Sr., age 76, passed away Saturday, March 19 at his home in Lexington. He was born July 9, 1945 to the late Hercy Lee Holmes and Alene McIntyre Holmes. Wayne served 9 years in the United States Air Force. Upon his return, he graduated from Lambuth College and then went on to graduate from Memphis Theological Seminary to become an ordained minister. He has been serving in rural churches since 1972. Wayne enjoyed sports, fishing, camping, and especially Tennessee Basketball.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Lisa: four children, Wayne, Jr., Cindy (Chris) Coffman, Becky Claybrook, and Brooke Foley; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Holmes, Danal (Amanda) Wood, Lindsey (Peyton) Turner, C. J. Claybrook, Fisher Holmes, Jackson Coffman, and Summer Foley; two great grandchildren, Beau Turner and Allie Jo Wood; and special family friends, Melissa and Jadyn Tart.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 4-8 PM and on Sunday 12-3 PM with a Memorial Service at 3 PM, Sunday, March 27, 2022 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Mr. Hercy Wayne Holmes, Sr. chose cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the American Heart Association, St. Jude, the Humane Society, or your local church in his memory.
