Funeral Services for Mr. James Dewayne Griffin, age 32 of Lineville, will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Bro. T.J. Griffin and Bro. Brandon Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Poplar Springs Cemetery.

James passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Clay County Hospital. Born in Long Beach, California, he had lived in Clay County since he was 13 years old. James attended Ayers Technical College, where he received an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked in Maintenance at Wellborn Cabinet as an electrician for over 8 years. He was so proud of his accomplishments in life and was a hard worker. James was a loving son, husband and father, and his family was number one to him. He absolutely adored his son, his grandparents, his siblings and was just a family man through and through. Those that knew James know how much he loved to cook, and how great of a cook he was. From homemade chicken and dumplings, to homemade potato soup, there was nothing he couldn’t cook and it was always delicious. James enjoyed gold panning, hunting, fishing, camping and talking to people. He was a people person that could talk to anyone, was always trying to help anyone who needed it and was always so giving. James also loved music, reading and studying his bible. By those that knew and loved him, he will be dearly missed. James was attending Mt. Prospect Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kim Griffin, his son, Stetson Lane Griffin, both of Lineville, his parents, Jamie Griffin (Regina) of Barfield and Thressa Bunn of Ashland, his mother-in-law, Sherry Cerrato (Hubert) of Lineville, three sisters, Angie Sanchez (Britni) of Gadsden, Breanna Griffin (Micah) of Ashland and Julia Griffin of Barfield, his sister-in-law, Brittany Jones (Michael) of Lineville, two brothers, Peewee Sanchez of Ashland and Ronnie Griffin of Barfield, his maternal grandparents, James “Doug” and Omie Bunn of Ashland, his grandmother, Minnie Hughes of Lineville, seven nieces, two nephews and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Frederick Bunn, his paternal grandparents, Doyle “Poppa” and Sarah “Nannie” Griffin, and his grandfather, Jerry Hughes.

Active Pallbearers will be: Jamie Griffin, Ronnie Griffin, Micah Patterson, Peewee Sanchez, Benjamin Cummings, Michael Jones, Daniel Andrews and Chris Mitchell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Stetson Lane Griffin, Joe Mullally and Royce Bunn.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and until service time Monday at 2:00 P.M.

The family will be accepting flowers or memorial donations towards the funeral expense.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
