FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a statement concerning the arrest of two suspects in a shooting incident that took place on March 4. One of the arrested parties is a juvenile:
On March 4, 2022, at around 5:45 PM, Florence Police Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of West Cleveland Avenue. Officers located shell casing around the 500 block of West Cleveland and a few witnesses. Witness stated a vehicle pulled up and started shooting at a male who was on foot. The male ran off and didn’t appear to have been shot.
Later in the day officers were able to contact the male who was being shot at. He identified the shooters as Kareem Carter and a juvenile male. He advised the two subjects started firing at him while he was in his vehicle at Oak Ridge Apartments. He then took off running where he ended up on West Cleveland where he ran into the shooters and was fired at for the second time.
After investigating warrants were issued for Kareem Carter and the juvenile male.
Both subjects turned themselves into police yesterday and were booked into the
Lauderdale County Detention Center. Both are charged with Attempted Murder, Burglary to a Vehicle, Theft of Property 3rd, and Reckless Endangerment and are being held on a $64,000 bond.
