LAWRENCE COUNTY-The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement regarding a kidnapping/Murder that took place on March 5, 2022:“On Saturday March 5th around 10pm David Guess (age 51 of Trinity, AL) went to the residence of Tyler Ray Tippett (Age 26, Hillsboro, AL) on County Road 294, Hillsboro, AL. At some point an argument started over some catalytic converters and that argument turned physical. Mr. Wendell Junior Proctor (age 44 of Hillsboro, AL), Mr. Devon Allan Keel (age 17 of Trinity, AL), Mr. Tyler Tippett, and Charles Allan Keel (age 43 of Trinity, AL) started beating Mr. David Guess. Mr. Guess tried to get away and Mr. Charles Keel shot Mr. Guess. Mr. Guess was placed in a pickup truck and then driven away.
Mr. Guess was driven to a location near County Road 222 and County Road 294. Mr. Guess was then doused with gasoline and set on fire by Charles Keel, Tyler Tippett and Wendell Proctor. According to the preliminary autopsy report Mr. Guess died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest. Statements made by some of those arrested indicated that the burned body discovered Monday March 7th 2022 is indeed Mr. David Guess.
The following persons were arrested and charged as it relates to the death for Mr. David Guess:
1. Charles Allan Keel age 43 charged with Murder, Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession with the intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Assault 1st degree, Kidnapping 1st degree and possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
2. Wendell Junior Proctor age 44 Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Assault 1st degree, and Kidnapping 1st degree.
3. Tyler Ray Tippett age 26 Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault 1st degree, Kidnapping 1st degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs (Suboxone).
4. Devon Allan Keel age 17 charged with Assault 1st degree, Kidnapping 1st degree and Unlawful Imprisonment.
5. Jamie Michelle Parker age 35 of Hillsboro, AL charged with Hindering Prosecution 1st degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs (Suboxone).
Multiple search warrants were executed in this case. During the execution of the search warrants the following persons were arrested on charges not directly related to the Murder of Mr. David Guess.
1. Barbara Ann Keel age 39 charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana 1st degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
2. Jason Wayne Keel age 41 charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
