George Lewis Ayers, 85, of Rienzi, MS passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Mississippi Care Center. He was born in Copiah County, MS on December 25, 1936 to the late Charlie W. and Lennie Mae Cox Ayers and graduated from Mississippi State University. George retired as a forester with 31 years of service with the Mississippi Forestry Commission. He was a member of Kemps Chapel Baptist Church and will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he loved. Magnolia Funeral Home – EAST is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 3 pm till service time Thursday, March 10th at Kemps Chapel Baptist Church. A Celebration of George’s life will be held at 3:30 pm Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Kemps Chapel Baptist Church officiated by Bro. David Heg. Pallbearers include Devin Welton, Mitch Key, Jacky Rowsey, and Ricky Bascomb. Interment will follow in Kemps Chapel Cemetery in Rienzi. Those left to honor George’s memory include his daughter, Dr. Gina Ayers Welton (Paul); his grandchildren, Katelyn Welton; Samantha Jo Welton and Devin Welton; his brother James Ayers; sister-in-law Frances Ayers; other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggie Rorie Ayers; his brother, Earl Ayers; his brother-in-law, Sammie Lee Rorie; his sister, Evelyn Ayers Strong (Houston).
