Jerry Fledderman, 90, of Huntsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 2nd. Jerry was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan. Jerry loved to reminisce about his own athletic days, especially when he starred as a lineman for the Purcell High School Cavaliers in Cincinnati. The love of sports was his favorite pastime. He would spend hours each day watching all kinds of games, but his favorite was to watch his alma mater, the Cincinnati Bearcats. Jerry had a knack for gardening and growing vegetables, and he supported many charities. Most of all, Jerry really enjoyed a simple cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs when his children and grandchildren came to visit.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; daughter, Therese; sister, Patricia Nolan; and brother, Kenneth Fledderman. Survivors include children, Laura Kaufman (Steve) of Atlanta, GA, Tom Fledderman (Joanne) of Chicago, IL, Jay Fledderman of Atlanta, GA, and Beth Folts (John) of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Michelle, Rebecca, Emily, Nicole, Abby and Carter.
Jerry had a dedicated and successful 40+ year career with the same company (Avco/Avex Electronics, Benchmark Electronics) serving in multiple financial roles starting as a staff accountant and retiring in 1995 as the VP, Chief Financial Officer. Upon retirement, he spent many hours performing charitable work with St. Vincent DePaul and Catholic Charities.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 9th. The funeral service will follow with Father Michael Mac Mahon officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.
