Lucille Parker Jones – Obituary

LucileLucille Parker Jones was born February 15, 1943 to Lula Ford, who preceded her in death. She was the second child among six siblings. One brother preceded her in death.

Lucille received her formal education in the Morgan County School System. She moved to Detroit, Michigan in the early sixties, where she met and married the love of her life, Nathaniel Jones, who also preceded her in death.

Lucille had not found a church home, but attended the Mount Mariah United Methodist Church, upon returning to Huntsville, Alabama. She was an avid bowler for many years and belonged to several leagues, and continued to bowl until her health failed her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her only child, Sonia Battle; two grandchildren, Nicole Battle (Marcus Rooker, Sr.) and Phillip Battle (Davonna Ware); three great-grandchildren, Marcus Rooker, Jr., Maliyah Rooker, and Phillip Battle, Jr.; her oldest sister and best friend, Ozella Young all of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Anita Marshall and Frances Ford; one brother, Ronnie Glenn all of Detroit, MI; one life-long friend, Dorothy Parker of Detroit, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Mt. Mariah United Methodist Church (127 Mt. Moriah Circle, Talucah, AL) with Pastor Kelvin Jones, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace. Mrs. Jones will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

A visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Royal Chapel of Memories.

Public Viewing will be held from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013; and from 8:30 a.m.m until 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Royal Funeral Home.
