Marlin Edison Steele, age 65 of Winchester, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. A native of Franklin County, Marlin was born in Winchester on November 29, 1956, to the late Clennon Alton Steele and Mary Faye (Stephens) Steele Judge. He was the owner and operator of Steele’s Junkyard and was recently honored with a banner as one of the “The People of Winchester.” Described as “one of a kind,” Marlin was kind and compassionate and known as Uncle Marlin or Papa to everyone in the community. He enjoyed dancing and playing the guitar. But most of all, he loved to fellowship with his friends and family. Marlin was a devoted member of Keith Springs Mountain Church of Jesus and enjoyed going to church camp meetings. He served as a Commissioner of the Keith Springs Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ben Alton Steele, Hershel Gene Judge, William Adrain Steele, and Harold Monroe Steele; and nephews, Alton Steele and Ray Taylor. Marlin is survived by his sister, Phyllis Ann Riddle of Winchester; brother, Wayne Steele of Decherd, Kenneth (Lena) Steele of Keith Springs, and Sherman (Ann) Steele of Keith Springs; step-sister, Margaret Bland of Winchester; sisters-in-law, Vanessa Steele of Winchester, and Sandy Steele of Decherd; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 13, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Sam Kent and Bro. Wayne Steele officiating.
