Olen A. “Boots” Nelson passed away January 28, 2022. He was a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Olen Nelson; two brothers, Etheridge Nelson and Curtis Nelson; and sister, Jean Turner. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margaret Ann Ryan Nelson; four brothers, James E. Nelson and Martin Nelson of Eva, Bill Nelson of Cullman, and Brownie Nelson of Athens; three sisters, Evonne Haney of Houston, TX, Doris Boughman of Gaithersburg, MD, Mary Jane Hatfield of Hartselle; and 22 nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be at Enon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cullman County with the Revs. Jonathan Todd and Eddie Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huntsville Hospital Foundation or the Huntsville Humane Society.
