Joe C. Landers, 89, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022. Mr. Landers was a Christian who was saved in 1944 at First Baptist Church in Wylie, TX. He graduated from Wylie High School in 1949 as the salutatorian of his class and from the University of Texas at Austin in 1960 with an electrical engineering degree. Mr. Landers retired in 1995 after 34 years with NASA in Huntsville. He worked on the SATURN Moon Rocket program with the original German Rocket Team headed by Dr. Werner Von Braun.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Tamara Landers; daughter, Kathy Brantley; stepdaughter, Toni Key; grandchildren, Christopher Schuster, Cecil Joe Smith, and Faith Harbin; great-grandchildren, Kailynn Kilpatrick, Joseph Hanrion, Aydin Smith, Harlow Smith and Phynix Smith; step grandchildren, Franklin, Shane, and Taylor Key; and brother-in-law, Don Jarman, his wife, Joann, and their children, Donald and Troy Jarman; and nieces, Linda Norwood, Joyce Jenkins, and Loyce Anderson and their families. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Schuster; and sister, Mary Gibson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wylie, Texas.
