Mary Katherine “Taffy” Lowry Walker, 85, passed away at home surrounded by family.
Daughter of Robert and Helen Lowry, Taffy was a lifelong resident of Huntsville. She was married to the love of her life, Dr. Walter Y. “Buddy” Walker Sr. in May of 1959 until his passing in May of 2020. She attended Mt. Vernon School and then college at the University of Alabama where she earned a degree in Education.
Taffy was a lifelong member of the Church of Nativity and a member of Grace Club Auxiliary, Junior League of Huntsville, Grace Club, Garden Club, Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary, and was a supporter of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. She was an avid golfer and tennis player.
Taffy was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy, and her son, Walter Y. Walker Jr. Survivors include her son, Robert “Bob” Walker and wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Walter Walker III and wife, Chelsea, John Lowry Walker, Katherine Kirby Walker, and Robert Harland Walker II; and great-grandchildren, Walter Y. Walker IV and Wells Emerson Walker.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1 at Maple Hill Cemetery.
