Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Esther Main, age 80 of Atlanta, Michigan, will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Stu Ropka and Elder Stephen Ferlita officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Main passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Grandview Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Michigan, Mrs. Main graduated high school and after spending a few years attending numerous Community Colleges, eventually attended and graduated from Central Michigan University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Special Education. She taught early education and taught pre-school Deaf children for a number of years. After retirement, Mrs. Main and her husband traveled and eventually settled in Bull Gap in the foothills of the Mt. Cheaha, spending the winter months in Alabama, and the summer months in their native Michigan. She thoroughly enjoyed canning foods, gardening and bird watching with her husband. She also had a healthy sized rock garden, and was a wonderful Wife and mother to her children.
Mrs. Main is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Kenneth Arvin Main of Atlanta, MI; two sons: Shaun Ivan Main of Baltimore, MD and Mike Douglas Main of Normay, MI; one granddaughter, Kristine Anne Main of California; four sisters: Ruth VanStee (Marshall) of Middleville, MI, Hope Baily (Lowell) of Michigan, Gloria Freville (Jim) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Faith Koski of Dorr, MI; and one brother, Mark Hosford (Linda) of Sands, MI.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Grant Cartwright Hosford and Esther Rose Parney Hosford; and one brother in law, Art Koski.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
