Wallie Eugene Springer Eugene Springer, 83, of Enville, TN, died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY.

He was born on May 23, 1938, in Webster County, KY to the late Prentice and Lois Springer. Eugene was a minister of the gospel in his 65th year, full-time for 52 of them, in 7 states, and held meetings in 14 states and Canada, and was preaching at the Dyers Chapel church of Christ in Reagan, TN until his illness in September. He was an alumnus of Morganfield (KY) High School 1957, Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, TN 1959, and Harding University in Searcy, AR 1965. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, target shooting, reloading, telling jokes, and watching grandchildren in activities. He served and participated at times in various school and community organizations and as a chaplain. Rom. 10:15 (Isa. 52:7) “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 47 years, Doris Atkinson Springer.

Survivors include a son, Paul Allen Springer and wife Beverly of Pace, FL; three daughters, Deborah Kaye Smith and husband Danny of Paducah, KY, Martha Sue Todd and husband James of Yorkville, TN, and Sarah Lee Canaday and husband William Lynn of Enville, TN; nine grandchildren, Daniel Eugene Smith and wife Aurora, Kayla Springer, Laura Smith Kaluzny and husband Tom, Ashley Springer Naumann and husband Taylor, Andy Smith, Lydia Todd, Christopher Canaday, Caleb Todd, and Charlotte Canaday; and one great-grand child, Mannuel Eugene Smith; and a sister Nita Lois Porter and husband John of Newburgh, IN; and many more relatives.

Services are as follows: on Friday, Jan. 28 there will be a visitation from 4 to 8 PM at the Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson,TN – Crook Avenue Chapel, TN. Then, on Saturday, Jan. 29, there will be another visitation beginning at 1 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM at the Whitsell Funeral Home (250 N. Court St.) in Morganfield, KY with Bro. Gary Puryear officiating. Then, a graveside service and burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church [Cemetery] in Poole, KY with Bro. Neal Kempf officiating.
