Melvin Douglas Goostree, age 81, of White House, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Doug Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with Jason Goostree, Bobby Blackburn, Walker Bloodworth, Larry Ramsey, Jeff Wilson and Aaron Robertson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Clifton Ramsey and Kirk Wall.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday, from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm.
Mr. Goostree was born October 24, 1940 in Robertson County, TN to the late Clyde Douglas and Alma Crain Goostree. He worked as a painter and was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Goostree is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Tanner Goostree, his son, Thomas Jacob Goostree and his brother, Carl Goostree.
Mr. Goostree is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Andria Goostree; and grandson, Robert Jacob Goostree.
