J.W. Moody, 73, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Helen Keller Hospital, Sheffield, AL. He was born in Mississippi to Ruble and Blanche Harris Moody and was a factory supervisor for more than forty-five years. J.W. served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ, Dennis, MS.

Services will be Saturday, January 8, 11 a.m. at Liberty Church of Christ with David Conley officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by two children – Jimmy Moody (Amanda) and Alicia McGee (Michael); four grandchildren – Kaleb Moody, Nicole Higginbottom (Chandler), MaryAna McGee and Austin McGee; one brother – Tommy Moody (Joan); brother-in-law – Ricky Flurry (Janet); friend – Linda Nelson and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Carol Moody and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Kaleb Moody, Kerry Moody, Kale Moody, Austin McGee, Chandler Higginbottom and Andy Deaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Carr, Frank Whitten, Ron Deaton, Rex Huffman, Charles Adams and Hoyt Griffin.

Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 6-8 p.m. at Liberty Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Vale Children’s Home, 1872 County Road 700, #1-A, Corinth, MS 38834.
