Margaret "Mimi" Salmon AustinMargaret “Mimi” Salmon Austin, 59, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday.

Mimi was born and raised in Huntsville and graduated from Randolph School in 1980. She attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and was presented at the 1982 Symphony Ball. She spent 18 years as a real estate agent.

Mimi loved travel, fine dining and being with friends. She personified the adage of living life to its fullest and carried many of us along her journey through her descriptive social media posts. Always open, honest and frank as she faced her challenges head on, Mimi inspired others with her positive attitude and outlook.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Austin; mother, Elizabeth “Libba” Whitten; brother, John “Jack” Salmon and wife, Tonya; five step children, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mimi was preceded in death by her father, M. Louis Salmon.

Due to concerns about indoor services, the family has decided to cancel the visitation and celebration service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russel Hill Foundation at Clearview Cancer Institute, 3601 CCI Drive NW, Huntsville, AL 35805.
